According to the results of our experimentation with the Hammer Exercises, the most important factor in depression is isolation. There is a method for dealing with it, and it is available to all users. It is in the Sameness section of the Starter Workbook. Sameness Hammers are you greatest weapon in the fight against depression.
You should also look for any negative thoughts about who you are and what you can do and replace them with the opposite, positive thought. Write down negative feelings about yourself as you notice them; then, sit down later and work on them with the Hammer. Always work towards the positive.
Think of depression as a trap that keeps you from getting what you need emotionally and psychologically. The trap has many sides, but you only have to break through one of them to find freedom. Naturally, all walls will need to come down eventually; but, you can work on it at your leisure once the trap is loose.
Looking at things from an electrochemical perspective it can be expressed like this: Every brain needs X number of endorphines to function properly. When this number is achieved for the majority of time, a feeling of happiness or well-being is the result.
